Hakkata Ikkousha @ Chijmes | Singapore

4:25 AM adeline 0 Comments

If anybody does not know, I am a noodle lover. I love noodles. I prefer noodles than rice. Am really glad that Japanese noodles like Ramen, Udon and Soba are getting more popular around SG/ Malaysia now. There are more Japanese food chains now which specialized more on the noodles unlike those days where it is just another typical Japanese sushi restaurant.

Been craving for some nice authentic Ramen recently, so I've asked the boy to bring me to try this Hakkata Ikkousha @Chijmes to get my cravings fixed!

The branch of Ikkousha here at Chijmes were quite small. The seating inside are pretty limited. Am glad that the time I was there was not some peak hour hence there was no queue and we were still able to choose a nice spot to seat.

The Exterior
So we sat down and this really cute tables which have all the utensils, condiments, sauces, menu and to what surprised me there was Boiled Eggs in a small basket with a small note on every table too!

FREE EGGS ALL DAY ERR DAY!
Yup you heard me right! All day Err Day! Just eat as many as you can! But don't be greedy. Saw this and immediately was too excited to order! Glanced through the menu and I forgotten what the boy and me ordered. But it looks something like this!!

Ta-daa! This is what we have ordered! Slurppppppp
Two bowls of Ramens one for him another for me. And some Gyoza ($5 SGD) as sides!

Now will you look at them creamy porky broth with that thin layered of porky 'Chashu' meat! *Die*

Added some Chili-Seaweed-Sesame flakes condiments as my toppings!

That Spongy-licious noodles! *Doink Doink* You are able to choose the type of Noodle texture you preferred from Soft > Normal > Hard > Very Hard!

Gosh. I.JUST.CANT. Simply IRRESISTIBLE.

Guess the pictures tell a million words. Prices are pretty reasonable too! It varies from $11-17 SGD for a bowl of ramen depending on what you ordered! You are allowed to add additional toppings ranging from $1-5 SGD.

Chijmes | Singapore

8:57 PM adeline 0 Comments

One fine day in Singapore, me and my boyfriend was strolling around and happened to found this beautiful heritage land-piece in the central area of the Lion City known as CHIJMES. It is located right in front of the bustling cross junction of the Raffles City main entrance x Carlton Hotel.

That Cross Junction where Carlton Hotel is right Opposite

Chijmes was previously known as the Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus (CHIJ). The Gothic-style chapel was a symbol of the presence of Catholic convent in the early 1840s. Fast forward till today, the convent building has now filled was various Bars, Restaurant and Cafes which bring a modern touch to this historical complex. I was rather impressed that besides the famous Marina Sand Bay, Sentosa Island, Clarke Quay they still reserve such heritage in Singapore. Chijmes was truly a hidden gem.

Loving the backdrop so much!

Fully utilizing the backdrop

Exploring around with that modern touch I've mentioned!

Such a beauty isn't it? Well I wasn't referring to me but the landscape. :D Chijmes is truly a hidden gem if you would like to take a break from the hectic city live. Just simply pick a cafe here to relax and enjoy the quiet surrounding with Church Bells ringing and you may even want to share this moment to take some nice insta worthy photo-shoots here.

We have manage to tried out one of the Ramen restaurant (Hakkata Ikkousha) for brunch here. Click here for some savoury ramen review.

Black Market @ St.Mary Place | Kuala Lumpur

8:16 PM adeline 0 Comments

Black Market may gave you the idea of the underground market selling illegal goods, however if you did not happened to know it is a restaurant found in Kuala Lumpur which serves exquisite cuisine featuring the famous Spanish Ham- Jamón Ibérico.

Black Market has expanded three branches to date. The first also their headquarters is located right behind the corner of famous youngster 'yamcha' place-Caffeinees. The second branch is at St. Mary Place @Jalan Tengah, KL. The third branch can be found at Main Place @ Subang USJ.

So happened me and my friends were searching for a new place for lunch to celebrate Manda's birthday, hence we decided to head to Black Market @ St. Mary Place. I happened to arrive early as I made a reservation at 12pm, hence I quickly order the surprise birthday dessert before the birthday girl arrives. Waited for about half an hour-ish and the table started to fill up, so we proceeded with the order.

Their menu was spoilt with various choices and which include Spanish, French, Italian, Chinese & Malay cuisine. We decided to give their signature Jamón Ibérico a try as it was also a first time for me trying something this exquisite! So we ordered A PLATTER!

Jamon Platter @ RM 78

Apparently the meat was rather 'raw' for me, I have to add on lots of garlic and tomatoes as I was not really used to eat such raw meat. I would have puked, if I were to eat it just like that. However, the birthday girl enjoyed it very much.

For starters & appetizers, I wanted to try another Black Market's Signature- Garlic & Butter Scallop. They even have the same for Escargots so we ordered both! Greedy us but it was really yummy as I forgotten to mentioned how I love Garlic so much.

Garlic Butter Scallop/ Escargot served with Toast @RM 16 each;
Truffle Potato Salad with Egg @RM 22
Truffle Mushroom Soup @RM 16
We also ordered their signature Truffle Potato Salad with Egg and also Truffle Mushroom Soup as well. The salad was rather mouth watering after all the meaty dishes we had, however the soup was a bit flat, as it wasn't really creamy enough for my liking. Do you now happened to understand why it is called 'Black' market? Yes! It is because of the Truffles used in most of their dishes!

Next, we also tried out their Sausage Platter. It includes with the Bacon Wrap as well which they named it as 'Pigs in a blanket'! So cute!
Sausage Platter @ RM 28

We have also manage to try their pasta- The Real Paddington Linguine which tasted just like their own version of Carbonara, so instead of bacon they served it with Jamón.
The Real Paddington Linguine with Jamón @RM 28
Black Scallop Pasta @ RM 38

My favourite was the Black Scallop Pasta made from Squid Ink spaghetti accommodate with Scallop and spicy balsamic sauce! The taste was just perfect! Such a perfect blend that suits my taste bud very well!

The Black Jamon Pizza @ RM 32
Chocolate Lava with Ice Cream @ RM 20 for the Birthday Girl!

Lastly, the dessert was the bomb! Truly indulge by the Lava oozing out from the Chocolate cake and even sinful when paired with the Vanilla Ice Cream! *Guilty Pleasure*

The Ladies

Overall I guess my experienced at the Black Market was average, out of 9 dishes mentioned here I only fancied 4 which are The Garlic Butter Scallop & Escargot, Truffle Potato Salad with Egg, Black Scallop Pasta and The Chocolate Lava dessert. However, Black Market is yet worth to try for raw pork meat/ ham/ Jamón eaters. I would highly recommend this place for those whom are looking for something exquisite to try!
